Mourinho urges Shaw to grow up Shaw returned to action off the bench in Tuesday night s draw (Photo: Getty) Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has urged Luke Shaw to grow up after the England left-back made his return to action against Everton writes Mirror Football s James Whaling. Shaw was left out of the squad for the Red Devils goalless draw against West Brom on Saturday amid criticism from his boss leaving his future at Old Trafford in doubt. But he took his place on the bench this evening and came on as a second-half substitute for Ashley Young. Ashley Williams handled Shaw s goal-bound effort and was given his marching orders before the Zlatan Ibrahimovic coolly dispatched from the spot to level the game. He Shaw has lots of potential but the football brain and the professional brain has to be with the talent Mourinho told BT Sport. He has to change his football brain. He was doing things in the second half when he was reacting to my voice. If he was on the other side for sure he would not do it. I think he has a future here but Manchester United cannot wait. We need the kids to grow up. Mourinho calls for video technology Mourinho was left frustrated by an incorrect decision (Photo: Shaun Botterill) Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has called for video technology to help match officials after Zlatan Ibrahimovic s disallowed goal against Everton. The Swede headed what he thought was a leveller in the second half only to be scuppered by the offside flag. Replays showed he was marginally onside and Mourinho refused to criticise the linesman for the decision but did call for them to be given help from the use of video technology. They fought until the last second and we should win 2-1 because it wasn t offside Mourinho told BT Sport. It s difficult for the linesman and I m not criticising him at all. When it video technology comes in it will help linesmen and referees. It will be welcomed by everyone especially them the officials . For them it is not good when they make mistakes.

United agree deal with West Ham for striker Fletcher signed for West Ham from United (Photo: Dan Mullan) West Ham have finally agreed a 1m deal for Ashley Fletcher - and that should give lift off to his Premier League career. Fletcher was a free agent when he joined from Manchester United last year and the deal was heading towards being decided by a tribunal. But West Ham have now made a fresh offer and that may now also allow Slaven Bilic to pick the 21-year-old striker on a more regular basis writes Mirror Football s John Cross. Fletcher has started just two Premier League games for West Ham despite scoring at Old Trafford in the League Cup earlier in the season and regular games could have pushed his price up. England under-20s starlet Fletcher has been desperate to play and lift West Ham s fight against relegation as well as ease their striker shortage. Eric Olhats confirmed United s move and says they face competition from Manchester City Chelsea and Barcelona for the France striker. Olhats says Griezmann s future beyond this summer has not been decided and that Atletico will demand 100million euros ( 85.6million) should anyone try and lure him away. Olhats told French radio station RMC: There are not 50 000 clubs that can put 100 million on the table it s quickly figured out. That s the price of the clause they won t give anything away cheaply. A judge is scheduled to oversee the latest stage of the dispute at a private hearing in the Family Division of the High Court on Monday. News that Giggs and estranged wife Stacey were embroiled in a dispute emerged earlier this year. Mr Justice Cobb considered issues relating to reporting of the case at a preliminary hearing in February. The judge made an order limiting what journalists would be able to report - after an application by Giggs. The judge also said the pair s children should not be named in any report of proceedings. He said journalists could report that Giggs and Mrs Giggs were involved in a dispute - and name them. Giggs had initially asked for an order preventing media representatives from attending hearings. He decided however not to pursue that application. They re getting in those positions but it s concentration when it falls for you Giggs adds. Jose s said it hasn t he? It s frustrating. You re dominating games and have so many draws. You look up and it s like what could have been? There s luck too. Pogba s hit the bar nine times. If he scores those then he s got 15. It s that it s confidence - all of those need to come together. You can t just rely on one person because they can have an off day. Leicester last year. OK Jamie Vardy scored a lot of goals but Riyad Mahrez got 17. That s what you need. That s how the United teams I played in were like. I d chip in with seven or eight Becks would Scholesy would. Four centre forwards would. The centre halves. Denis Irwin too. It put pressure on but you knew what the expectations were. If you were left out you d know why. Giggs laments their slow start and the admission that United s stars lack concentration is startling from someone who coached the vast majority of them as Louis van Gaal s assistant last season. In hindsight those problems were never going to be corrected overnight. A taskmaster remembers Giggs. The detail the way he looked at the game I d never really seen that before. It was two years and it was like spending five years with someone else because it was so intense. He delegated. Telling a player what to do never fazed me because I d been doing it for five to 10 years anyway. Does that player need a dressing down? Does that one need an arm around him? Ask any United fan if you get into the Champions League and win a trophy it s a good season. They are still on track to do that.
